The Birth of the Solar System

The programme shows the evolution of our Solar System, from its beginning as a cloud of cosmic gas and dust, up to the present day. It analyses some of the evidence that remains from the planet's violent formnation cuased by crater, which completely covered the surfaces of planets and other smaller bodies like satellites and asteroids. It describes some intances that, althrough very rare, still happen today, which reveal the development process of the various components in the Solar System. The Shoemaker Levy 9 comet is discussed, which collided with Jupiter and is shown using a fulldome simulation. It also reveals the effect this particular formation methot has caused, and still causes to our planet today, like the extinction of the dinosaurs, and it warns us of the possibility that a similar event could happen again. However, to calm our nerves, it also explain why the probability of it actually happening is extremaly low.
